However, officers from the CTD’s police station will be investigators in the case, Dawn reported.

During the investigation, an injured police officer said Saturday that there were three people in the vehicle involved in the blast. However, a police statement said only two people were involved in the blast. One of them is the driver and the second is the driver of the car.

The driver of the car and the suicide bomber were killed in the blast, Dawn newspaper reported. The bodies of the two co-conspirators and the policeman killed in the blast were taken to hospital.

Citing sources at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims), Dawn said only two body parts had been received – the policeman and the “suicide bomber”. They claim the man could be identified by a recognizable face.

The identity of the deceased will be determined based on the recovery of the driver’s torso, head and face, police have been told. According to reports from Dawn, at least four policemen injured in the blast have been released from hospital, the Metropolitan Police said, adding that statements from ASI Raza Hassan, HC Yousaf, Constable Hanif and Constable Bilal were also recorded.

The police driver who was injured in the blast said two people and the driver were in a car entering I-10/4 from the IJ Main Road. After pulling over, Sergeant Syed Adeel Hussain asked the driver of the car for documents while his colleagues Yousaf and Bilal checked what was believed to be another man in the car. Since these cops could check the backseat, the people in the car blew themselves up. (Arnie)
