Hudson Valley (USA), July 10 (AP) Heavy rain triggered severe flooding in New York’s Hudson Valley on Sunday night, killing at least one person, flooding roads and forcing road closures.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for parts of southeastern New York state, calling it “life-threatening.”

Orange County Executive Steven M Neuhaus told The New York Times that one person died from the flooding.

State Highway 9W was flooded, as was the Palisades Interstate, with sections closed, New York State Police said in a statement. Police are asking the public to avoid Park Avenue.

Cedar Pond Brook in Stony Point is flowing over the road and into private homes, WABC reported.
