WASHINGTON, Jan. 14 (PTI) — More classified documents were found at President Joe Biden’s Delaware residence, the White House said on Saturday.

As a result, the total number of classified documents found at Biden’s Delaware residence and his private office in Washington, D.C., has roughly grown to about two dozen. The Justice Department has appointed a special prosecutor to investigate the matter.

Biden, who usually spends the weekend at his Delaware residence, arrived Friday night. White House special counsel Richard Sauber said in a statement Saturday that a classified document was found Wednesday night in a room near Biden’s garage.

The attorney who found the document did not have security clearance, so the search was suspended, Sauber said.

“When I handed it over to the DOJ officer who was accompanying me, five more pages of classified-marked documents were found among its materials, for a total of six pages. The DOJ officer who was with me immediately took them over,” he said. Say.

“The President’s attorneys have taken immediate and voluntary action to provide the Pennsylvania Biden documents to the Archives and the Wilmington documents to the Justice Department. We have now publicly released specific details about the identified documents, which are How are they identified and where are they found,” he said.

While the details and contents of the documents are unknown, they are from his time as the country’s vice president from 2009 to 2016.

It all started on Nov. 2, when attorneys for the president discovered about 10 documents marked as classified in an office in Washington, D.C., where Biden served as emeritus at the University of Pennsylvania from 2017 to 2019. These files were used during my teaching.

The issue came to light on Monday and was confirmed by the White House after it was first reported by CBS News.

In a separate statement, Biden’s personal attorney, Bob Ball, said the president’s personal attorney did not know the exact page count of the material found and did not follow standard procedures and requests to review the contents of the document.

“Adhering to this process means that any disclosures about documents cannot be established until the government conducts an investigation, which includes obtaining any documents and reviewing any surrounding material for further scrutiny and context,” Ball said.
