Jeddah [Saudi Arabia]April 30 (ANI): An Indian Air Force C-130J aircraft carrying 40 passengers took off from Jeddah for New Delhi on Sunday as ‘Operation Kaveri’ advanced to evacuate stranded Indians from war-torn Sudan .
This is the eighth flight from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, carrying Indian evacuees since Operation Kaveri began.

Flight 7 to Bengaluru took off from Jeddah earlier today with 229 passengers on board. “#OperationKaveri brings citizens home. 7th outbound flight with 229 passengers departs from Jeddah, bound for Bengaluru,” MoS Muraleedharan tweeted.

On Saturday night, 365 Indians from Sudan arrived in New Delhi under Operation Kaveri, while a flight carrying 231 Indian passengers arrived in the capital on Saturday morning. Several countries, including India, are trying to evacuate their citizens from the conflict-torn country as Sudan has declared a ceasefire.
Sudan is experiencing bloodshed due to clashes between the army and paramilitary forces.
Earlier on Saturday, Indian Navy ship INS Teg successfully evacuated 288 stranded Indians from crisis-affected Sudan during Operation Kaveli. This is the 14th batch of stranded citizens who went to Jeddah to return to India.
Earlier, the Port Sudan-based INS Sumedha also left the crisis-hit country for Jeddah with 300 passengers on board.
The Indian government is preparing to evacuate about 3,000 passengers of Indian origin from Sudan under Operation Kaveri. As of Friday, more than 2,400 Indians had been evacuated from Sudan, which is bleeding from clashes between the army and paramilitary forces.
Chanting slogans such as “Bharat Mata ki jai” and “Vande Mataram”, Indian evacuees also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister Jaishankar for rescuing them from Sudan during Operation Kaveli. (Arnie)
