WORLD NEWS | Pak General Munir makes official visit to Saudi Arabia, UAE for bilateral talks

[ad_1]

riyadh [Saudi Arabia]5th January (ANI): Pakistani General Syed Asim Munir, the current Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), is conducting military operations against Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) on an official visit.

Admiral Munir’s six-day visit will end on January 10. This is Admiral Munir’s first visit outside Pakistan since he took office as commander of the Pakistani Army. During his visit, the Pakistani general will meet senior leaders of both countries to discuss mutual interests and military cooperation, Geo News reported.

Geo News quoted the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), which also announced the visit, as COAS met Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman in Riyadh. “During the meeting, they emphasized the strength and durability of the bilateral relations between the two fraternal countries, discussed military and defense cooperation, and ways to support and strengthen them, in addition to discussing the most important regional and international issues of mutual concern,” SPA said in a statement.

It is worth noting that the visit may affect the country’s defense, especially after the Pakistani army pledged to continue “fighting terrorists indiscriminately” in December amid a marked rise in militancy in the country. The resolution was taken at a meeting of corps commanders at Rawalpindi General Command chaired by Munir.

“The CCC was held at GHQ. General Syed Asim Munir chaired by COAS. A comprehensive review of the professional and organizational affairs of the Army was conducted. Determined to fight terrorists indiscriminately and eliminate this threat in accordance with the aspirations of the Pakistani people” Spokesperson Pakistan Armed Forces the troops said in a tweet.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, on the other hand, remain in fear as Pakistan suffered nearly 376 terrorist attacks last year.

Most of the attacks were carried out by banned terrorist groups such as the Taliban Movement of Pakistan (TTP), Daesh (Islamic State of Khorasan) and the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), the report said.

Violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province has exploded exponentially, and the death toll has risen accordingly. Government officials, law enforcement personnel and civilians make up the majority of victims of violence. According to research, there are several foreigners among the civilian population.

According to the centre, terrorist attacks in KP and Balochistan increased significantly after November 28, with more than 20 attacks in December alone. That brings the death toll in the province, which includes the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas, to roughly 64% of all deaths nationwide, according to the same report. Balochistan follows closely behind, with 26 percent of deaths said to be attributed to terrorism. (Arnie)
