WORLD NEWS | Pakistan: Imran Khan blames General Bajwa for Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification in Panama case

[ad_1]

Islamabad [Pakistan]Jan 22 (ANI): Ex-Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan on Saturday accused ex-army chief general (retired) Kamal Javed Bajwa for letting PML-N supreme leader Waz Sharif disbarred in Panama Papers case.

Pakistan Justice Instigation (PTI) chief Imran Khan claimed that General Bajwa “sent two brigadier generals” who proved Nawaz Sharif’s involvement in the Panama case, Dawn cited an interview with Bol News.

“He (Bajwa) sent two brigadier generals to prove Nawaz’s involvement in the Panama case,” Dawn quoted Imran Khan as saying in a Bol News interview.

“This is why Nawaz did not forgive Bajwa,” Khan added.

Khan said Pakistan’s former army chief and all agencies were speaking to the media and members of his government about the extent of corruption among Pakistan’s pro-democracy leaders. He further said that these people “imposed the same on us”.

Responding to a question on why Nawaz Sharif was allowed to leave the country, Khan said the former Pakistani prime minister’s medical report had been falsified, Dawn reported.

On the question of local government elections in Karachi, the former prime minister spoke of the PJP’s “tactics” to “steal the polls” by cooperating with the local police, administration and election commission.

The PTI chairman emphasized that educated, business-minded people living in Karachi can never “vote for PPP”.

Referring to the Toshakhana case against him, the former Pakistani prime minister said the government and “handlers” had blown things up for no reason.

Khan claimed on Saturday that General Kamal Javed Bajwa’s behavior had changed after he was granted a deferment as military chief in 2019, according to international news reports.

“General Bajwa changed and compromised with Sharif after the extension. He then decided to give them the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO),” Khan said, citing an interview with a private channel.

The PTI chairman also claimed that General (Ret.) Bajwa hired Hussein Haqqani as then Pakistani ambassador to the US to overthrow his government. Haqqani joined the office through the foreign ministry without their knowledge, he added.

According to international news reports, Imran Khan claimed that the ex-diplomat started lobbying against him in the US and promoted General Bajwa (retired).
