Earlier this week, the UK government declared that any direct attack on the Indian High Commission in London was unacceptable amid anti-India attacks and posters of Kalistan extremists appearing on social media channels.
“Any direct attack on the Indian High Commission in London is totally unacceptable,” Cleverley said.
“We have made it clear to Vikram Doraeswamy and the Indian government that the safety of High Commission staff is paramount,” he said.
Since Khalistan extremists attacked the High Commission building in March, they have tried to pull down the Indian tricolor flag and smash windows.
Smart responded that the UK government would work with the Metropolitan Police to “review the security situation at the Indian High Commission and will make necessary changes to ensure the safety of its staff”.
Cleverly’s latest statement this week comes after Indian envoys and top diplomats have been threatened by Khalistan extremists around the world.
