Riyadh [Saudi Arabia]July 8 (ANI/Xinhua): Saudi Arabia on Thursday announced comprehensive health and safety measures at ceremony sites to protect the safety of pilgrims during the pilgrimage season.
As many as 25,000 medical staff and more than 4,000 hospital beds will be on standby during the Islamic pilgrimage, which ends on the evening of July 12, the Saudi news agency quoted Mohamed Al-Abdal, spokesman for the Saudi Ministry of Health, as saying.
Health and emergency centres, mobile health units and virtual health services are also ready to provide services, Al-Abdal told a joint press conference on preparations for the Hajj season.
Meanwhile, Saudi Interior Ministry spokesman Talal Al-Shalhoub said the ministry was setting up security cordons at all ceremonial venues to prevent illegal pilgrims from entering, and fines were imposed on violators.
This year is the first time since the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020 that Saudi Arabia has allowed foreign pilgrims to perform the hajj, as the past two seasons have been limited to domestic pilgrims. (ANI/Xinhua News Agency)
