WORLD NEWS | Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Georgia President Azar discuss ways to boost economic ties

Sharjah [UAE]May 7 (ANI/WAM): The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) hosted the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Tornike Rizhvadze, and his delegation to discuss strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

The bilateral meeting aims to promote cooperation in the fields of trade, industry, agriculture and tourism, and to identify potential investment opportunities for investors and businessmen from both countries.

The delegation, which also included Georgian Ambassador to the UAE Paata Kalandadze and a number of Georgian officials, was welcomed by SCCI Chairman Abdullah Sultan Al Owais and several members of the SCCI Board of Directors.

Also in attendance were Humaid Mohamed bin Salem, Secretary-General of Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI, Abdulaziz Mohammed Shattaf, Assistant Director-General, Communications and Business Sector, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce, and Fatema Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Director, International Relations.

During the meeting, the Chamber urged the Georgian business community to take advantage of investment opportunities in Sharjah.

It underscored its commitment to support and promote their work and stressed the importance of arranging mutual visits and meetings between the parties.

Al Owais welcomed President Azar and his delegation to the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce, saying that bilateral relations between the UAE and Georgia reached new heights during the recent high-level visit of Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and the UAE-Georgia business forum.

“This meeting is very important as it will help to strengthen and upgrade our economic cooperation and services, especially as the non-oil foreign trade between our two countries doubles to over AED 1.7 billion in 2022, This is an increase of 110% compared to 2021. We look forward to exploring more investment and trade opportunities between the UAE and Georgia,” added Al Owais.

Rizhvadze said: “I am really happy to visit the Emirate of Sharjah and the Chamber of Commerce, which is a beacon of communication, global openness and innovation, serving the business community and investors. The Al-Azhar region has an environment that stimulates investment, especially in tourism , attracted more than 4 million tourists last year, 10 times its population.
