New Delhi [India]March 31 (ANI): Singapore’s High Commissioner to India Simon Wong on Friday expressed his condolences over the loss of 36 lives in the collapse of a temple stepwell in Indore.
“Deeply saddened by the news of the temple collapse in Indore. My heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the tragedy. HC Wong,” Singapore’s official Twitter account in India tweeted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke with Chief Minister Shiv Raj Singh Chauhan to assess the situation.
Prime Minister Modi tweeted: “Extremely distressed by the unfortunate incident in Indore. Spoken to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and updated on the situation. The state government is swiftly launching a relief effort. My prayers are with all those affected and their families.”

“In today’s unfortunate tragedy in Indore, the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) will provide an ex gratia payment of Rs 200,000 to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured will receive Rs 50,000,” PMO India tweeted.
The incident happened around 11am on Thursday at the Beleshwar Jhuleal Mahadev temple in the Patel Nagar area of the city, during the Havan puja on the Ram Navami festival.
CM Chouhan and State Home Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra also rushed to the scene of the incident and inspected the rescue work at the scene.
“An authoritative FIR-registered investigation into this incident has been ordered. Action will be taken against those found responsible. The immediate priority is rescue operations.
