damascus [Syria], April 2 (ANI): Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Miqdad met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and held bilateral talks in Cairo. It was the first visit by a Syrian foreign minister to Cairo in more than a decade, according to Syrian news agencies SANA and Anadolu.

The Egyptian minister also expressed support for the efforts of the United Nations to reach consensus among the Syrian people, build confidence and continue to hold meetings of the Syrian Constitutional Council, the statement said.

The statement said Mekdade said he looked forward to more Arab solidarity with Syria to overcome the crisis.
