“We have to realize today that the wheel of history is turning. It is coming back. India is on the rise. That time, the temples were neglected, that time was against us, that time is over,” he said.

Temples are not only places of faith and worship, but also social community centers, Jaishankar said. “They are meeting places and centers of knowledge. They are facilitators of arts and crafts.”

He explained that most temples are custodians of Indian heritage. “They are our way of life. We wouldn’t be who we are without temples.”

Regarding the importance of temples in the contemporary world, he said: “We have to worry about globalization. … People are understanding that there are different societies, different people and different beliefs. Every belief has to be in the world Take your place. The world.”

Stressing the need to spread Indian culture, Jaishankar said India would have to promote, showcase and disseminate its culture to the rest of the world in order to deal with the competing advances of other faiths.

“It’s not enough just to have our own culture, we have to promote it, we have to show it, we have to take our culture to the rest of the world. So everything you do at home, we have to find a way that the message also spreads all over the rest of the world,” he said.

Referring to his recent speech on political and economic rebalancing, the foreign minister said rebalancing will only happen if there is a cultural rebalancing.

“Our beliefs, our beliefs and our culture must be recognized and given their rightful place in the world. That is our promise to you,” he said.

Jaishankar noted that the country’s civilization has surpassed that of India, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has been working to restore Hindu temples in Cambodia and other countries.

“Today, as we rebuild, restore and reinvigorate Indian civilization, our task is not only in India but in the world,” he said.

He also revealed that after the Modi government came to power, the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs established a separate department to be responsible for the restoration, renovation and support of our cultural heritage. (Arnie)
