Notably, the protests took place ahead of Human Rights Day, which is celebrated on December 10, according to the United Nations.
During the protests, Abdulselam Abdullah, a representative of the Uyghur NGO East Turkestan Human Rights (ETHR), called on the international community to save the Uyghur community from extinction and accused Chinese authorities of using Covid-19 control measures as an excuse.
