New Delhi [India]Jan 28 (ANI): United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) President Csaba Korosi will arrive in India on Sunday during which he will discuss key multilateral and regional issues of mutual concern with External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar.
During the visit, the PGA will hold talks with the EAM on key multilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
The PGA outlined five priorities for his presidency of the UN General Assembly: i) uphold the fundamental principles of the UN Charter; ii) make significant and measurable progress towards sustainable transformation; iii) address iv) strengthen the role of science in decision-making; v) strengthen solidarity to better respond to new crises facing the world.
It will be his first bilateral visit to any country since he became PGA president last September. The PGA president will hold talks with Jaishankar at the Hyderabad Palace in New Delhi.

Given Korosi’s strong interest in India’s expertise in water management and experience with the SDGs, he will also engage with senior officials from the NITI Aayog and India’s G20 presidency team to explore best practices for scaling up India.
On January 30, Korosi will deliver a public lecture at the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) on the topic of “Problem Solving through UN Solidarity, Sustainability and Science”, according to a release from the MEA.
In New Delhi, the PGA will also witness a “Defeat Retreat Ceremony” on Jan. 29 and pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat on Jan. 30, Shaheed Diwas.
The PGA will also travel to Bangalore on 31 January, where his activities will include interaction with scientists from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and a field visit to a water conservation project led by the IISc. The PGA is also expected to visit developments in/around Bengaluru and interact with the UN-India country team. The governor of Karnataka will host a dinner for him.
Korosi’s visit to India will be an opportunity to exchange views on the current global challenges facing the UN. This will help strengthen India’s enduring commitment to multilateralism, including through its current G20 presidency, and how it will effectively address these global challenges for a better future for the Global South.
The PGA will also visit Bengaluru on January 31, where he will meet scientists from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). He will also conduct fieldwork on water conservation projects led by IISc. He will also visit other developments near Bengaluru and, furthermore, the governor of Karnataka will host a dinner for him. (Arnie)
