This course is the pinnacle of extreme abundance.
A new travel concept is counting on vacationers seeking both adrenaline and luxury.
In the mountains of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, tourists may soon get a taste of luxury accommodation in a tent — not on the ground, but suspended hundreds of feet in the air.
The current short-term rental project, called Floating Retreat, is the brainchild of Dubai-based design studio Ardh Architect, according to SWNS. The idea came after the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority commissioned the firm to study “a new hotel typology”.
In response, Ardh proposed a more or less suspended hotel, complete with all the amenities of a normal five-star accommodation — room service, WiFi access, entertainment and beauty supplies in every form — just suspended from the mountain side.
Up to 10 canopies will be suspended between the peaks, each with its own private bathroom and access to shared spa facilities. The ground floor will house the reception area, concierge and restaurant, and guests will also be able to enjoy private guided tours of the mountains.
Availability will be seasonal and guests can only stay overnight in tents during the winter months. During summer (May-September) the tents are only used during the day.
The front of the tent will be made of a transparent material so guests can enjoy the stunning view – and is customizable, with controls to move the dwelling without getting too close to other dwellings.
“The floating resort’s individual tents/pods are designed to bring luxury and comfort to those who are unable to partake in mountaineering or other adrenaline-filled outdoor activities,” Ardh said, as reported by SWNS.
The company has not yet given a timeline for when the resort will be completed.
