Young Dolph murder suspect in custody (updated)

[ad_1]

Two suspects wanted for the murder of young Dorff have now been taken into custody.

according to Fox 13 Memphis, U.S. Marshals said 23-year-old Justin Johnson was arrested in Indiana around 3 p.m. Tuesday. A second suspect, Cornelius Smith, 32, was also arrested and registered at the Shelby County Jail and charged with first-degree murder. He was arrested on December 9 on a car theft warrant involving the white Mercedes Benz used in the murder of Young Dolph. He was extradited from DeSoto County Jail to Shelby County Jail on Tuesday.

The car was stolen during a carjacking on November 10, and police recovered the car on November 20.

as Before Last week, authorities reportedly identified Johnson as one of the suspects in the fatal shooting of Young Dolph at Makeda’s Cookies on Nov. 17. After his identity was revealed, a $15,000 reward was also announced for any information that might lead to his arrest.

The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office also referred to social media posts on Johnson’s Instagram page over the weekend, announcing that he would turn himself in on Monday. However, they said he never showed up.

Johnson’s previous arrest also came to light in a social media post. Back in 2017, he was arrested for a three-shot shooting at a local bowling alley. He was sentenced to five years in prison for the shooting and was released months early. “It’s called the Department of Corrections and not the Department of Punishment,” said Shelby County Criminal Court Judge Chris Craft, who granted his early release.

He is currently facing charges of first-degree murder and theft of $10,000 to $60,000 of property. He also holds an outstanding warrant for violating a federal release related to a weapons conviction.

Smith was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, unlawful possession or possession of a weapon, use of a firearm with intent to commit a felony, and theft of $10,000 to $60,000 in property. He was held without restraint.

We’ll keep you informed as the story develops.
