Young leaders from the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia are selected for the first US Pavilion @ EXPO 2020 Fellowship Program – Dubai Blog

PepsiCo and its charity, the Pepsi-Cola Foundation, together with the U.S. Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, proudly announced the launch of the U.S. Pavilion@2020年世博会 Researcher Program. The focus of the researcher program is to empower and educate young global leaders to solve the world’s most pressing social and economic problems by helping them hone their leadership and problem-solving skills.

Funded by the Pepsi Foundation of US$500,000 (1,836,600 AED), the seven-month project is hosted by the United States Pavilion@2020年世展, bringing together 40 young leaders from 20 countries in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (Menasa ). The plan focuses on the global issues discussed at Expo 2020 Dubai-including trade, sustainability and future cities-and aims to promote dialogue throughout the MENASA region, stimulate debate, and ultimately enable researchers to build communities and solutions to contemporary challenges All of us face this situation.

Participants are leaders who demonstrate unwavering commitment to improving the lives of those around them. They are nominated by the U.S. diplomatic missions of participating countries and selected through a competitive application process conducted by the Observer Research Foundation of America (ORF America) and the Observer Research Foundation (ORF).

The project is divided into four phases. The first is a virtual briefing hosted by the leaders of the pavilion to introduce the researchers and lay the foundation for their global network. After the virtual meeting, the researchers will fly to Expo 2020 Dubai, where they will meet with pavilion leaders, participate in group discussions, and establish contacts at the Expo. At Expo 2020, researchers will also participate in hands-on teaching courses that reflect the dynamic classroom style, including the development of a group project that the researchers will work on throughout the project. For those who cannot travel due to the pandemic, we have developed a virtual plan to ensure that they receive the same benefits as others.

After visiting Dubai, the researcher will return home and participate in a digital training camp led by AstroLabs, a company dedicated to building abilities and personal skills in the region. Designed as a virtual bridge between face-to-face parts, this stage will focus on guiding researchers to complete their individual and group projects. The plan culminates in the fourth phase, which includes a five-day face-to-face development at Expo 2020 Dubai, including demonstration group projects. It is expected that more than 2,000 people will benefit from the work carried out by the program.

After the program is completed, participants will become part of the alumni network of the U.S. State Department Exchange Program. The community will allow researchers to interact with others who can provide guidance as they explore how to become agents of change in the community. By participating in this outstanding program, researchers will integrate into the larger ORF community, including the Raisina Young Researcher Program, also known as the Forum for Global Governance Asia, and have the opportunity to build multiple communities within and outside the MENASA region.
