The committee also approved plans to integrate federal and local media sector activities and align media-related policies in support of the country’s strategic objectives, in collaboration with government media offices across the UAE.
Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan said the UAE Media Council will work with all sector stakeholders to support the acceleration of an integrated national governance system that will lead the country’s media sector and strengthen the ecosystem to tell the story of the UAE The story has been successful locally, regionally and internationally.
He said the committee would also support efforts to create an enabling environment to help create stories and content to strengthen the sense of national identity within the community and raise awareness of authentic Emirati values.
He directed a comprehensive study of the media sector to monitor the sector’s main challenges and future opportunities. He also directed the development of programs and initiatives serving the national interest and strengthening the UAE’s position as a regional and global media hub.
The meeting was attended by members of the UAE Media Council, including Sheikh Abdullah bin Humaid Al Qasimi, President of the Ras Al Khaimah Court of Rulers; Saeed Mohammed Al Eter, Assistant Minister for Cabinet Affairs for Strategic Projects and Chairman of the UAE Media Office; Director of the Abu Dhabi Media Office Maryam Eid Al Mheiri; Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Dubai Media Council and Director, Media Office, Government of Dubai; Dr. Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman, Sharjah Media City; Dr. Saeed Saif Al Matrooshi, Secretary-General, Executive Council, Government of Ajman; Mohammed Sorour Al Naqbi, Acting Secretary-General of the Executive Council of the Government of Umm Quwain; Mohammed Saeed Al Hamour Al Yammahi, Director-General of the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority; and Mohammad Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council.
