Abu Dhabi: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, 8th March, 25 Indian expatriates residing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) received education scholarships worth Rs 1 lakh for their daughters at an event in Dubai.
The parents received the ‘Almirah’ scholarship, initiated by Haseena Nishad, a leading UAE businesswoman from Kerala.
The Almirah Scholarship for Girls, launched in January 2023, is for girls who are academically adept.
A scholarship of 100,000 rupees (approximately AED 5,000) was awarded to 25 girls who took part in the Indian High School Public Examination.
According to Gulf News, the girls were selected from thousands of applicants based on their Grade 11 results and the financial status of their parents working in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Haseena Nishad wrote on Instagram: “In everything we do, we believe in spreading kindness and positivity by recognizing and helping those in need. Our flagship scholarship program – named after our daughter Almirah Educational Scholarships – awarded to 25 of the top girls in education.”
“We thank the parents of all the winners, who come from all over the UAE. May your daughters continue to make you proud every day!” she added.
