As UAE astronaut Dr. Sultan AlNeyadi hit the midpoint Anticipation is rife when the Emiratis will return to Earth during his nearly six-month space exploration mission. AlNeyadi and his crew of Crew 6 will return in late August, according to NASA and SpaceX. An exact date has yet to be determined.

In early May, during a live broadcast of the Dragon capsule relocation mission, officials confirmed that Crew 6 will return to Earth in late August. SpaceX production and engineering manager Jesse Anderson said during the live broadcast: “Crew number 6 will remain on station until this fall, with the goal of returning to Earth in late August.”

According to her, AlNeyadi and his teammates will return to the Crew Dragon Endeavor spacecraft for a splashdown off the coast of Florida in late August.

AlNeyadi, who arrived on the International Space Station (ISS) on March 3, has conducted several scientific experiments in medicine, physics and other fields, including one testing a drug that could reverse the effects of microgravity on the heart.

Meanwhile, Axiom Mission 2 (Ax-2), carrying Saudi Arabian astronauts Ali Alqarni and Rayyanah Barnawi, joining the crew of Expedition 69 for nine days on the International Space Station. Working together, these teams conducted extensive space research aboard the space station during their short stays. For the first time in history, three Arab astronauts went into space at the same time.

AlNeyadi assists Ax-2 mission specialist Rayyanah Barnawi in the Kibo lab module with samples for a study exploring the effects of microgravity on the inflammatory response of human cells.

After completing their mission, the Ax-2 crew landed safely on May 30, 2023 at 11:04 pm EST (7:04 pm UAE time).
