The Andover Public Library offers many programs during the summer.
Animals of Summer will be presented by Friend of the Library Julie Victoria on Monday, July 10th from 6pm to 6:45pm. Victoria, a retired Connecticut wildlife biologist, will talk about how animals have adapted to help them survive summer heat waves. Participants will also have the opportunity to create an animal drinking station to take home.
Wildlife Illustrator 2 will be available at the Lutz Children’s Museum on Wednesday, July 12, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Participants will learn about two drawing techniques and how to draw amazingly adaptable animals. This 90-minute class with a 15-minute break is tailored for grades 3-5.
Make your own BBQ Herb Planter with Kaitlin from Andover on Thursday 13th July from 6-8pm. All supplies are provided. There is a fee of USD 35 per person.
Join Ruth O’Neil for music on Wednesday, July 19th from 11am to 11:45am. O’Neill will lead a fun singing round for children of all ages.
Get dressed up on Wednesday 26th July from 2-3pm! This fun painting project from Mrs. Kempen will focus on creativity and developing ideas as well as painting without a brush!
This summer, the Friends of Andover Libraries will host two free Pavilion concerts. If it rains, the performance will be held in the community room.
On Friday, July 21 at 6:30 p.m., Two Connecticut Troubadours will star Kara Farnham and Hugh Blumenfeld.
On Friday, August 4th at 6:30pm, the Mount Restless bluegrass will be in the gazebo.
“We thank Amy Orlomoski of Andover Public Library for inviting our band to participate in their music series,” said Matt Fleury (banjo/vocals) of Restless Mountain.
“Amy is a true bluegrass lover, so we’re honored that she chose us,” Fleury continued, noting that the band had heard the Andover community would be participating in the Bower Series and looked forward to it every year. it.
According to Fleury, Restless Mountain is an all-acoustic bluegrass band.
“We cover a lot of traditional and newer bluegrass, as well as some original compositions by our talented mandolin player, Gracin Dorsey,” he says. “We do it for the love of music and the joy of getting people on their tiptoes, enjoying some good songs, laughing, and enjoying life.”
Every Saturday at 10:30am (July 15th, August 5th, September 9th) read with Sheena at the library.
On September 9th, Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue will return to the Andover City Hall Community Room with possums. More information coming soon.
Additionally, the Summer Reading Challenge will run from June 19th to August 31st. Children and adults are invited to explore the library, choose fiction or non-fiction, or both, and fill in as many titles as possible on a piece of paper. During the lucky draw on September 5th, every book read will get a ticket, divided into adult prizes and children’s prizes.
