Since December 15, Dubai has transformed its nights into a radiant spectacle with vibrant fireworks, marking the month-long ‘fireworks nights’ as part of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF). The displays, featuring aerial shells and various pyrotechnic effects, are carefully designed to complement the distinct architecture and ambiance of each venue, such as the traditional setting of Al Seef.
Behind the Scenes: Crafting the Spectacle
Nine highly-skilled technicians, licensed by the Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA), meticulously plan and execute the shows. These experts work with state-of-the-art software to design and program the displays, ensuring adherence to strict safety and security protocols.
Sourcing and Transport: The Journey of Fireworks
The fireworks materials, sourced from China, undergo a complex process, taking at least three months from order placement to arrival in Dubai. Stored in Dubai Police-controlled facilities, the materials are transported to each location a day before the show.
Preparation and Coordination: Setting the Stage
The preparation for this dazzling event begins three to four months before DSF, involving coordination among teams, venues, and authorities. Permits and approvals are secured two weeks prior, and equipment setup and layouts are completed in the final days leading up to the show.

The result is a mesmerizing nightly spectacle that illuminates Dubai’s skies until January 14, captivating audiences and contributing to the festive spirit of DSF.
