UAE Crude Production Nears Record High After OPEC Exit

The UAE crude production rose to more than 3.8 million barrels per day (bpd) in June, reaching its highest level since April 2020 as the country continued to increase output following its exit from OPEC and OPEC+.

According to industry sources, the higher production reflects the UAE’s strategy of making full use of its expanded oil production capacity after ending decades of output restrictions under the producer alliance.

UAE Crude Production Hits Highest Level Since 2020

Industry data shows that UAE crude production surpassed 3.8 million bpd in June, moving close to a record high. The increase also lifted output above levels recorded before the recent regional conflict involving Iran.

The UAE formally exited OPEC and OPEC+ on May 1, 2026, allowing it to produce oil without the quota limits that previously applied to member countries.

Greater Flexibility After OPEC Exit

The UAE has invested heavily in expanding its oil production capacity over the past decade. Energy Minister Suhail Al Mazrouei has said the country wanted greater flexibility to maximise the value of those investments and respond more effectively to global demand.

Analysts say the latest production figures demonstrate the UAE’s ability to increase supply while strengthening its position as one of the world’s leading oil exporters.

The production increase also comes as oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz continue to recover following the easing of regional tensions, helping Gulf producers restore exports to international markets.

With global energy demand expected to remain strong in the coming months, the latest UAE crude production figures highlight the country’s growing role in maintaining stability in international oil supplies after its departure from OPEC.
