The first Global Business Forum (GBF) ASEAN-a dedicated conference focusing on trade and commerce between Dubai and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-will begin tomorrow (Wednesday, December 8) with participants from all over the world Get together in Dubai to discuss new ways of economic cooperation between the UAE and ASEAN countries.
Organized by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Dubai World Expo 20202, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the two-day GBF ASEAN will be held in The new frontier is held under the theme. EAbdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce; His Excellency Hamad Buamim, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce; His Excellency Nguyen Hongdi, Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, and Romano Puro, Chairman of the Italian-ASEAN Association Professor Di.
“GBF ASEAN is the newest member of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce’s flagship Global Business Forum, which explores emerging markets around the world. Dubai welcomes the world to participate in the 2020 World Expo, and now it is precisely the way we turn our attention to the dynamic and fast-growing ASEAN economies. At the ideal time, these economies offer great potential for UAE companies to benefit from,” said HE Hamad Buamim, President and CEO of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce. And added that the forum is an ideal platform to promote cross-border cooperation and mutually beneficial partnerships to promote sustainable growth.
Issues that have attracted much attention at the first GBF ASEAN meeting include the large number of technological opportunities presented by ASEAN countries in the pandemic, the promotion of the digital economy in the region to exceed 100 billion US dollars for the first time, and the problems brought by the leaders of the ASEAN region in November 2020. The commitment made at the 37th ASEAN Summit to rebuild the country focusing on resilience, sustainability and regional cooperation.
After the COP 26 summit last month, sustainability will become a major area of discussion for the forum, and both the UAE and ASEAN member states are committed to developing a low-carbon economy. The built environment will play an important role in these conversations, and it is estimated that sustainable infrastructure in the next ten years will bring about US$2.8 trillion in investment opportunities.
GBF ASEAN is part of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce’s flagship Global Business Forum series, which was launched in 2013 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The launch of the series aims to provide new opportunities for Dubai’s business community and to consolidate the emirate’s position as a global business center, a vibrant business center and a gateway to lucrative new markets.
