Dubai Police Issue Urgent Warning Over Viral Slime-Microwaving Trend Among Kids
Authorities are advising parents to be mindful of their kids’ internet activities after a disturbing trend started emerging on social media. Kids are being urged to put a gooey substance called “slime” in the microwave after seeing various videos of the so-called “challenge.” Slime toy makers are saying the microwaving is making the gooey toy even more stretchable and flexible but it could really hurt your little ones.
Parents and caregivers were being warned that if your child plays with microwaved slime right after it comes out of the microwave, the child can get burned.
They warned the gooey substance has already caused burns, the material has been known to produce fumes when heated and it can cause your microwave to go on fire. Dubai Police have requested guardians be aware of children’s usage of social media and to teach children never to reenact any viral trends found on social media without direct supervision. This is part of a summer campaign led by UAE authorities to tackle numerous social media trends that resulted in injuries.
