Abu Dhabi: The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards ceremony will return to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in February 2023.
This comes just weeks after the two-day 2022 IIFA awards ceremony at the Etihad Arena, which took place on June 3-4 and was originally scheduled after the death of Sheikh Khalifa The date held in May was postponed.
The news is part of a June 30 press conference where Miral and its partners announced more than 70 entertainment, sports and gaming events on Yas Island from July 2022 to February 2023.
IIFA Vice-President Noreen Khan, who joined the meeting via video call from India, said: “For the first time, the Wizcraft team and Bollywood stars had such a wonderful and positive experience in the emirate.”
Khan also revealed that award-winning composer AR Rahman will give a concert at the Etihad Arena on 29 October.
With Eid al-Adha approaching, it was also announced that this year visitors will be able to watch the nightly fireworks on the Yas Bay waterfront from July 9 to July 12.
The first IIFA Awards were held in 2000 at the Millennium Dome in London, England. Since then, awards have been held around the world, marking Bollywood’s international success.
