Abu Dhabi Airport to serve 2.8 million passengers in July and August

The airport operator said on Monday that Abu Dhabi International Airport is expecting huge passenger traffic during Eid al-Adha and the summer season.

Abu Dhabi Airports said it expects up to 2.8 million passengers to use AUH during July and August, with 414,000 of them travelling during the Eid al-Fitr holiday between July 7 and 15.

“As the industry continues to recover and consumer confidence rebounds, we are delighted to maintain this momentum. Dubai-based Emirates is also looking forward to a busy summer.

The airline expects to reach around 550,000 passengers on more than 2,400 weekly flights by the end of July.

As many as 2.56 million travelled through Abu Dhabi International Airport in the first quarter of 2022, a 218% increase compared to the 810,000 tourists in the same period last year.

The airport recorded 22,689 flights during the period, compared to 16,351 in 2021, an increase of 38.8%.

Load factor also doubled, with an average load factor of 70% in the first quarter compared to 35% a year earlier.

The airport now serves 99 destinations on 26 airlines, up from 18 airlines serving 81 destinations in the first quarter of 2021.
