Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has announced the imminent launch of the airline’s first non-fungible token (NFT) collection, ‘EY-ZERO1’.
This Practical Drive collection includes ten highly detailed 3D aircraft models, each featuring a unique Etihad Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner livery. The 2003 limited edition collectible, which symbolizes the year Etihad Airways was founded, will go on sale on 21 July at 6pm UAE time. The collection includes the Etihad’s Manchester City Football Club and a Greenliner-themed aircraft, among others.
one-of-a-kind artwork
“Our first NFT collection, the EY-ZERO1, not only offers collectors, aviation enthusiasts and travelers a unique piece of art, but also real-world travel and lifestyle benefits through Etihad Airways,” said A Tony Douglas, chief executive of Tihad Aviation Group, said the group.
“NFTs and other Metaverse technologies are revolutionizing the digital economy, and we are proud to be one of the first airlines in the world to explore their potential to provide additional utility to our customers.”
Purchasing an NFT will give the owner immediate access to a one-year Etihad Frequent Flyer Silver membership, where 10 lucky NFT holders will win a free ticket to Etihad. NFT owners will also have early access to upcoming NFT collectibles and future Metaverse products that the airline plans to use as part of its Web3 strategy.
$349 for NFTs
To celebrate the launch of the new collection, Etihad is giving away 20 NFTs to those who pre-register at etihad.com/zero1 until 16 July. Each NFT is priced at $349 (plus tax) on etihad.arcube.io and the sale will end on August 18th at 6pm UAE time.
NFTs can also be purchased through the Etihad Frequent Flyer Rewards store, meaning the airline’s 7 million loyalty program members can redeem their Etihad Frequent Flyer miles for NFTs.
EY-ZERO1 will be minted on the energy-efficient Polygon blockchain, and Etihad Airways will partner with Aerial.is to track the NFT’s CO2 emissions. In addition to offsetting the entire carbon footprint of the project, the airline will use all proceeds collected to purchase sustainable aviation fuel in 2022.
art value
“In addition to recognizing the artistic value of our aircraft livery, our NFT collection is designed to maximize efficiency and support our wider sustainability and decarbonization efforts at Etihad Airways,” said Douglas. arab trade news agency
