Pakistan Navy rescued 15 crew members after sinking ship carrying Indian cargo-News

The Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) rescued the crew on Sunday from a cargo ship that sank due to strong winds and tides.

The joint operation took place 180 nautical miles south of Karachi.

According to a press release from the Pakistan Navy, the ship is carrying cargo from India to Somalia.

A nearby cargo ship, MT Elan Vital, received an emergency message from the crew before it sank and immediately rescued 5 crew members.

After receiving the information, the Pakistan Navy air surveillance aircraft was commanded to the scene, and a PMSA aircraft and a ship were immediately dispatched for assistance.

The rescuers initially identified eight crew members and later rescued five crew members with the help of a life raft.

Another nearby ship, MT Desh Abhimaan, helped rescue five other members. So far, 15 of the 18 crew members have been rescued-all of them belong to Syria.

The Pakistan Navy and PMSA are currently conducting search operations through ships and aircraft to find the other three members.
