University of Pennsylvania, Parker — Geoffrey Scott, professor of law and director of the Art, Sports, and Recreation Law Clinic at Penn State Parker, co-authored the second edition of “Entertainment Law on the Global Stage With Mary LaFrance (UNLV) and Lionel Sobel (UCLA); it was published by Western Academic Press this July.

This textbook covers many different aspects of entertainment law in the US and international contexts. The versatility of this book makes it ideal for a broad range of entertainment law, intellectual property, and advanced infringement courses. The second edition features a major update to all chapters of the first edition, with Scott adding two new chapters to address the timely topic of domestic and international music copyright infringement.

Scott has a wide range of teaching and academic interests, focusing on intellectual property and the intersection of artistic expression, scientific invention and law. He pays particular attention to domestic and international entertainment law issues, with a focus on music and personality rights, the protection of cultural property in Europe and Asia, and the representation of individual professional athletes.

Scott has been a Fulbright scholar in Japan, has conducted research on creative people, and has lectured on innovation and entertainment law in Japan and other countries including the UK, China, Korea, Norway, Austria, Italy, France, New Zealand and Australia. He has published articles in the fields of law and entertainment, sports, and cultural property protection.

Scott has also been named a professor in Penn State’s College of Art and Architecture, a position through which he collaborates with the College of Art to lecture on legal issues involving creative endeavors.
