Lea Michele is taking a break from ‘Fun Girls’ after being hit by ‘early signs’ of COVID-19.

The 36-year-old actress has been playing the role of Fanny Brice on Broadway, but Leah confirmed via Instagram that she will be stepping down from production following her illness.

“I am saddened to say that due to early signs and symptoms of COVID and inconclusive test results – due to production safety protocols, I cannot perform for today’s show,” she wrote on the photo-sharing platform.

Lea is planning another test and hopes to know soon if she will be able to return on Sunday (11/9/22).

The actress added: “Jolie [Benko] Shattering it today as Fanny – like all of our amazing students who have all stepped forward with incredible speed this week as we battle a very intense Covid-19 outbreak in theaters (sic )”

A source close to production told PEOPLE: “[There is] There was an outbreak between the crew and the cast, so they obviously put safety first. “

Earlier this month, Lea revealed that she was in tears after starring in “Funny Girl.”

The former “Glee” star was having brunch with her two-year-old son Ever when she learned she was going to star in a Broadway movie.

She said: “Interesting story, I got a call from my agent saying I got the role. I don’t know.

“I literally sat at Bobby’s with my kids and fed him butter pasta and broccoli. I got calls from agents and they said, ‘You’re going to be Fanny Bly in ‘Funny Girls’ St. When I looked up, I started crying hysterically, and I was like, oh my god.”
