Bivol, Ramirez pledge to fight for world title in Abu Dhabi

With just a month away from the UAE’s first World Boxing Association title fight, light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivor and confident contender Gilberto Zuldo Ramirez have told fans Commitment to fireworks in the boxing ring at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island on 5 November.

The undefeated Bivor won his most recent title defense in May with a unanimous decision against Mexico’s Canelo Alvarez. Meanwhile, Ramirez is unbeaten in 44 fights despite raising his weight class in 2019. Now, in a mandatory match, the pair will face a dusty match in Abu Dhabi.

“I’m excited to be back in the ring,” said Bivor, who has won 11 eliminations in 20 fights.

Fight Night, part of Matchroom Boxing’s partnership with the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Culture and Tourism, is the first event in a new Champions Series to support the growth of fighting sports in the UAE capital. The Nov. 5 fight card also features two undefeated boxers’ title fights, including the first women’s title fight in the Middle East.

Briton Chantelle Cameron (15-0, 8 KOs) and American Jessica McCaskill (12-2, 5 KOs) will decide who will be the undisputed super lightweight champion, then Welshman Joe Cordina (15-0-1) 9 KOs) vs. Tajikistan’s Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov (16-0-1, 13 KOs) for the IBF Super Featherweight Championship.
