Creepy outdoor experience includes family-friendly fun
MATTHEWS – The Matthews Playhouse of the Performing Arts will present its fourth annual Haunted Trail, an eerie outdoor experience, from October 28-30 behind the Matthews Community Center.
The event raises funds for the Matthews Playhouse Sponsor-A-Student and Scholarship Fund to help make performing arts more accessible to community members.
A family-friendly version of the Haunted Trail will be held every evening at “Not So Scary” hours from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. During this time, patrons can enjoy food trucks, bouncy houses, luggage or – therapy and kids activities and more. Then, from 7pm to 10pm, the trail transforms into its signature “Frightening” experience. The nightly schedule is as follows:
Friday, October 28
5-9pm – Nor’East Family Treats & Eats – New England-style treats and desserts See menu: www.noreasttreats.com/menu
5:30pm to 6:30pm – “Not so scary” time, offering a “friendlier” version of the Haunted Trail (paid admission) as well as free tree trunks or treatments, bouncy houses and other kids activities.
7-10pm – ‘Frightened’ Haunted Trail Experience
Saturday, October 29
5-9pm – Social Cow Ice Cream – Family owned vintage ice cream truck serving classic novelties and homemade artisan sodas.

Admission to the trail is $10 per person and can be purchased at the door. Limited edition Haunted Trail T-shirts, hooded sweatshirts and other merchandise will be available during the event.
The organization also ran a social media outreach to encourage community members to seek out “Mr.” Bones” at various Matthews businesses and locations. Anyone who finds Mr. Bones will be eligible for a free ticket to the Haunted Trail when they share a photo on social media using #MPHMrBones2022.
