Leslie Jordan is an Emmy winner whose satirical Southern accent and versatility have made him standout in comedy and drama on TV shows like Will & Grace and American Horror Story, died at the age of 67.
“The world today would definitely be a much darker place without the love and light of Leslie Jordan. Not only is he a super-talented and collaborative, but also one of the nation’s most talented,” a representative for Jordan said in an emailed statement Monday. One of the difficult times provided the nation with an emotional refuge.
“Knowing that he left this world at the height of his professional and personal life is the only consolation one can take today.”
The Tennessee native, who won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in 2005 for Will & Grace, most recently appeared on the Mayim Bialik comedy “Call Me Kat” and co-starred on the sitcom The Cool Kids.
Jordan gained an unexpected new following in 2021, posting daily videos of himself on Instagram as he spent the pandemic lockdown near family near his hometown.
Many of Jordan’s videos include him asking “How are you?” Some of them include stories about Hollywood, or his childhood growing up with identical twin sisters and their “mom,” whom he calls “mom.” Other times, he’d do silly things like finish an indoor obstacle course.
“Someone called from California and said, ‘Oh dear, you’ve gone viral.’ I said, ‘No, no, I don’t have coronavirus. I’m just in Tennessee,'” Jordan said.
Celebrities including Michelle Pfeiffer, Jessica Alba and Anderson Cooper, as well as brands like Reebok and Lululemon, comment.
