Fujairah: Two Indian expats were killed in a car crash on Thursday night.
According to their friends, the dead were MNP Jaleel, 44, and Nangarath Zubair, 45, from the southern Indian state of Kerala, who had been best friends and business partners for about 25 years.
Their friend Sabith V said they started their expat life in Oman and lived in Fujairah for 16 years.
The pair, along with a number of other partners, run a store that sells cosmetics and women’s accessories. They have two stores in Fujairah and three in Oman.
Their friend and another partner, Sharafudheen K, said they were on their way to Dubai when the accident happened.
“They go to Dubai to buy goods for the store. They are in Jaleel’s car,” he said.
Friends said the accident happened around 4.30pm on Fujairah-Dubai Road.
Fujairah Police are investigating the case.
According to initial reports, the tire blew and their car hit a pillar. It was then hit by another vehicle.
“They were friends who were always together. Now, in death, they are together,” Sabis said.
Sharafudheen said the pair had been active in social work and were very helpful to those in need.
Friends and social workers are working to complete the legal process of repatriating the remains.
Jaleel’s wife and three children live in Fujairah, while Zubair’s family is in Kerala.
