James Corden has stopped googling himself.
The 44-year-old late-night show host admitted he couldn’t stand seeing the abuse he received online any longer, saying it didn’t match the friendliness he felt from fans on the street.
He told The Times on Saturday (29/10/22): “I just stopped reading it (the comments about him on the internet). I just wouldn’t do it.
“I don’t Google myself, I don’t read anything about myself. I remember when Keira Knightley was talking about what people used to write about her, she just realized, ‘Oh. I don’t have to read this. . This has nothing to do with me. I’ll just focus on work’.”
“It’s weird because I’m walking around in London, New York, Los Angeles and people are lovely, you know? It’s amazing…people are so happy with my work.
“I’m cycling in (London), I’m riding in this filter, and I hear my name over and over again – people shouting, thumbs up. Honestly, I only get mostly positive things.”
James was attacked by trolls after being called ‘a man’s little idiot’ by restaurateur Keith McNally, 71, who banned him for life from his Balthazar restaurant , as he allegedly rudely treated the staff for confusing an omelette with egg yolks.
James’ Balthazar ban lifted after Keith said he called him to apologize.
The actor also insisted to The Times that he complained in Balthazar that his wife, 46-year-old Julia Carey, with whom he has three children, suffers from a “severe” egg white allergy.
He added: “I’ve never talked about eggs so much… People keep telling me, ‘This is the world we live in!’ I don’t know if that’s true. I think it’s a place we’re actively creating, A world of engagement and encouragement. It’s scary. Really scary.”
“You know, the reason I had to send the omelette back was because Jules had an egg white allergy. That’s why we ordered the egg yolk omelette. Her actual words were, ‘But if you can’t manage it, don’t worry. ‘”
