The death of 22-year-old Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini in Iran has sparked a revolution in its seventh week. Students at Hormozgan University in Bandar Bandar Abbas on Monday removed gender segregation barriers in cafeterias, sending a strong message to Khamenei’s government.
A video of the incident went viral on social media platforms, instantly attracting attention. Boys and girls can be seen tearing down the wall and heading to the other side while chanting freedom slogans.
Netizens applauded the move, with one saying, “These students are everything,” while another added, “It brings me to tears. Solidarity with the Iranian people.”

Iran is a highly conservative Islamic country. After the establishment of the Islamic Republic in 1979, gender-based segregation in public life became the norm.
From schools to universities to hospitals, men and women have to be separated in order to keep up with the moral standards of an ideal Islamic society.
By tearing down walls, protesters are sending a message that this oppression may not continue. The Iranian government, which initially downplayed the protests, also appeared to be disturbed.
On Monday, the Iranian government said 1,000 people would face public trials in the capital Tehran over their alleged involvement in nationwide protests, WION reported.

“Those who intend to confront and subvert the regime are dependent on foreigners and will be punished according to legal standards,” said Goram-Hussein Mohseni Ejah, the head of the Iranian judiciary.
According to Iranian human rights activists, the protests have affected more than 125 regions; at least 270 people have died and nearly 14,000 have been jailed.
