Designed for Middle Eastern lawyers and graduates wishing to qualify as a UK bar
American Apparel Reed Smith New Lawyers and Graduate Training Academy opened in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)
The ‘Reed Smith Academy’ is open to individuals graduating from a ‘recognised university’, although the company is particularly keen to hear from foreign graduates seeking a qualification in England and Wales and those already practising under another legal qualification and is Seek dual qualifications.
The company has partnered with Chancery Lane Institute for Professionals (CLIP), a law school that has been providing legal education in the Middle East since 2014, to help candidates prepare for both parts of the Bar Examination (SQE).
The company said the academy would also enable in-house legal teams and law firms to sponsor individuals through the process of qualifying as a solicitor in England and Wales.
The first courses will start in 2023 and will include in-person and virtual formats.
Sachin Kerur, managing partner of Reed Smith’s Middle East office, said: “As the popularity and use of UK law, or legislation and regulations derived from UK law, continues to surge in the region, this qualification is critical to access to it and their employers.”
Krell continued:
“The training programme presents an important opportunity for those in the Middle East looking to qualify as a lawyer; the new process is faster, more flexible and allows candidates to continue working full-time. We want to support the growth of the legal sector in the region and believe in this service Will be of great benefit to our clients and other companies here. We are delighted to launch Reed Smith College.”
