Since Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) may come to Dubai, there is no need to go abroad for a degree from a top business school.

India’s premier management school is currently negotiating with various stakeholders in the UAE to internationalise India’s growing brand of premium management on the world stage.

“We see Dubai as a place for experimentation and business innovation. So if you open a school here, our teachers are also exposed to the global stage. So it makes sense for IIM to emerge. In many ways, one of One is that Dubai is a cosmopolitan city from all over the world. We recognise that the first foundation of innovation is diversity. Consistency is a killer,” said Professor Debashish Chatterjee, Director of Kozhikode, Indian Institute of Management (IIMK).

“I think in the future, with most hybrid technologies, there seems to be a good chance that you won’t need to physically move everything. Digitally, you can move a part of your essence here. So education and tech are emerging model, making it more feasible to be a base in Dubai.”

Numerous prominent representatives of this respected education brand reiterated that it is important for a college with a global alumni footprint to have a physical presence that transcends borders.

But there are also practical challenges that require government involvement.

He added: “The quality of life here is very good, and so is the standard of living. I don’t understand why our teachers don’t come here, but there has to be a cultural shift in terms of adapting to the political and public policy level. At the end of the day, it’s a policy Decision. IIMs and IITs are public agencies of the government of India. For a public agency purely commercial considerations will be difficult. We have to maintain our public image. We have affirmative action and we have to accommodate people from disadvantaged groups .”

“But if any IIM has legitimacy to come to Dubai, it is IIM Kozikhode (he put it lightly). The fundamental aspects of the economy (in the UAE) are run by Kerala. We have toyed with this idea in the past. The reason I am here Exactly this. I’m in conversations with several CEOs and CXOs to see how we can build greater engagement between IIM Kozikhode and the UAE,” he said.

Innovation Center

Articulating the link between India’s intellectual capacity and the country’s emergence as an innovation capital, the world of the future will belong to creative conceptualizers rather than people working in their own silos, adding:

“We are a group of schools that compete with the best schools in the world. So we want our executive education to take root here. We are already here in some way. We want schools in Dubai to partner with schools in India, see See how India’s education system has changed India’s fortunes, not just higher education.”

Also read:

“I want Dubai to see India as the world’s No. 1 innovation capital. The government has just unleashed the power of innovation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to make India a hub for startups is bearing fruit. India will be the global hub.”

IIM UAE Alumni Base

Chatterjee takes on a leadership role in the UAE, highlighting that IIM alumni have proven time and time again their mettle across the globe.

“CEOs and CXOs, most of them have IIM ancestry. So they are already here. I met 100 alumni from IIM Kozhikode in Dubai. There are other IIMs. So if you consider the top six IIMs , there will be thousands of alumni here. They have created wealth in multiple places.”

He believes that diversity is at the heart of innovation and how growth patterns will be determined not by the quantity of consumption but by the quality of innovation, he asserts,

“This year itself, we have announced 50 extra-staff places for outstanding international students. Currently, the IIM Kozhikode campus has personnel from 30 countries… Mid-career officials and diplomats from 30 different countries under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are in Kozhikode is trained to understand how India can create innovation and social capital. The momentum is building as India increasingly becomes an ideal space for many countries. They look to us to guide them on how to move their country forward.”

Vision of Dubai

Chatterjee highlights how, with the advent of the information revolution, the movement of cash flow away from what people call traditional corporations has transformed society.

“Dubai has been very clever in creating what we call a knowledge centre or knowledge city. But there has to be a cultural shift in terms of acquiring knowledge and understanding the world…innate curiosity that drives knowledge.”

“But these things will also change here (for the better) because fundamentally business will be more knowledge-driven than ever before. It’s not going to be capital or legacy-driven. When this kind of When this happens, knowledge creation, knowledge dissemination, knowledge authentication, and “knowledge monetization” become drivers of wealth. These are the capabilities of today’s IIMs. Once that happens, then you will see that fundamentally all businesses will be based on this framework. Innovation will be the driving force, not the legacy. “
