Wolff on Abu Dhabi team order: Lewis doesn’t need to be prioritized

Lewis Hamilton only needs to start one more race to ensure his winning record is maintained in every season he has competed in.

The team is still battling for second place in the Constructors’ Championship, with a 19-point gap over Ferrari and a strong performance in Abu Dhabi could turn the tables.

But given Hamilton’s record, Wolff said the team would not prioritize the seven-time world champion if there was an opportunity to swap cars.

“Lewis doesn’t need any priorities, it’s not what he wants,” Wolff told the media, including RacingNews365.com.

“The game record of winning a game every season is not that important to him.”

Wolff: Hamilton focused on returning to title fight

Hamilton is fifth in the drivers’ standings this season, likely his lowest finish since 2009, when he won P5 for McLaren.

Wolff said the Briton was focused on ensuring the car was back on track to win next year, when the team is expected to re-challenge for the title.

“What’s more, we’re getting the car back to where it can be and we’re working hard to get more race wins next year and hopefully a title,” he explained.
