Abu Dhabi ALC signs MOU with UAE universities at Al Ain Book Festival

Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Abu Dhabi Arabic Center (ALC), under the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) during this year’s AI Because of the Book Festival.

The MoU was signed by ALC Chairman His Excellency Dr. Ali Bin Tamim and UAEU Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ghaleb Al Breiki in the presence of academics and Arabic language experts.

The MoU is part of ALC’s efforts to expand collaboration with scientific and academic institutions in the UAE and around the world. The agreement will also encourage research in the field of Arabic studies, supported by the UAE’s extensive expertise as a leading university in the region.

Organized by the ALC, the 2022 Al Ain Book Festival will take place at five landmark locations in Al Ain from 14-20 November.

His Excellency Dr Bin Tamim said: “We at the ALC are committed to working with leading academic and educational institutions such as UAE universities to advance the Arabic language and promote its use through serious scholarship and research. This MoU will help support the various language fields research and research to uphold the role of the Arabic language as a marker of national and cultural identity and a bridge between past and present.”

Professor Al Breiki said: “This agreement will support and empower the current Arabic language curriculum, firmly position Arabic as a carrier of culture and civilization among international languages, and develop learners’ and speakers’ Arabic skills through joint courses to promote Its regional and international stature, conferences, seminars, special evenings and book fairs. Through this agreement we will also promote and revitalize the Arabic language events, which we consider to be both national and cultural heritage. All this It is supported by UAEU’s academic expertise and infrastructure in coordinating efforts, facilitating constructive teamwork, and overseeing the implementation of common national plans, projects and strategic visions.”

The agreement will support the ALC’s efforts to develop, promote and preserve the Arabic language and facilitate learning in diverse communities. Both parties will benefit from each other’s academic expertise and advanced resources and facilities, such as electronic library databases, and promote ALC’s book fairs, organize students to participate in these activities, and participate in their programs.

The ALC and UAEU will organize academic and creative writing workshops, cultural evenings and events, and joint scientific meetings, including an international triennial. In addition to supporting the Center in the fields of scientific and educational research, UAEU will also use its internal newsletter to promote ALC activities.

According to the MoU, the two institutions are now officially strategic partners and will use various communication channels to highlight and implement their joint projects by forming a joint working group.In addition, professors and researchers from the United Arab Emirates University will be journal of arab studies.
