Lando Norris: “P6 and fastest lap, it’s the perfect way to end a season. It was a tough race and I wasn’t far from being overtaken at the end, but our timing was good. We always struggled with degradation a lot more, especially on a front-limited track, compared to the other teams, so we knew it was going to be a tough race. I tried to build a good gap, knowing that would be the case, and we ended in P6 and Daniel’s P9. A great double points finish and perfect way to end the season, motivating the team and finishing with some good points. I’m happy, the team did a great job.”
Daniel Ricardo: “I’m really happy to get some points in the last race at McLaren. I feel like I’m doing the best I can with my pace. I’m trying to keep the front tyres alive. That’s the biggest limitation, that’s kind of Tricky. I think in terms of movement, I defend when I can and overtake when I can, so from that point of view I’m happy. Vettel caught me very quickly and tried to catch him off I think I broke the tire a bit, but I’m happy to hang on and get the points.
“It was a good end to the season. Big thanks to the whole team – they also put a nice message on the dashboard after the game so it was cool. Thanks for that. We had some highs and some Low tide but throughout the process I’ve enjoyed my time here with Lando and hopefully can be proud of McLaren. Thanks to everyone who has supported me so far, Papaya Army and trackside and Woking Everyone – I can’t thank you enough. It may be my last race for McLaren, but I’m looking forward to what happens next. I wish the team the best for next season.”
Team Leader Andreas Seidl: “It was a great way to end a long and difficult season. It was a well-executed The race, Lando’s P6 and Daniel’s P9 represented a good reward for a lot of hard work. Lando’s fastest lap was a nice bonus and Daniel defended well at the end to keep him in place. We are now with him Saying goodbye comes after embodying the relentless enthusiasm and determination he has shown this year.
