RTA awards contracts for 3 new truck stops in Dubai

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded contracts to build three turnkey truck stops in partnership with the private sector.

The first contract was with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), while the other two were with the Almutakamela Vehicle Testing and Registration Company.

The scope of work included three truck stops on a total area of ​​over 226,000 square meters, accommodating approximately 500 trucks and heavy vehicles.

RTA said the stations will provide a range of services to enhance the well-being of drivers, including residential complexes, maintenance workshops, restaurants, administrative buildings, prayer rooms, driver training centers as well as clinics, pharmacies, money changers, laundromats and other support services in the area. in a statement.

The facility will be located on Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road near Jebel Ali Free Zone and Al Maktoum International Airport, and will be run by Almutakamela Vehicle Testing and Registration Company.

When completed, it will have an area of ​​100,000 square meters and accommodate 200 trucks and heavy vehicles.

Almutakamela will also be in charge of a second 51,000 square meter facility in Dubai Industry City (DIC). It will be able to accommodate 120 trucks and heavy vehicles.

A third rest stop will be located near Emirates Road on 76,000 square meters and will be managed by Adnoc. It will have capacity for 150 cars.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Executive Board of RTA, praised the PPP project: “We are pleased to see the increasing participation of private companies in infrastructure and service projects.”

“The agreement with Adnoc and Almutakamela to build and operate the three rest stops aims to enhance the safety and well-being of drivers by providing the amenities and services they need in their daily lives,” he added.trade arab news agency
