DSC breaks ground on Dubai Labor Force Survey 2022

The Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) has launched the Dubai Labor Force Survey 2022 with the aim of generating detailed data and specifications on the emirate’s residents as well as the workforce, especially workers and the unemployed.

Now in its 15th year, the survey aims to help policymakers understand current and future real labor market needs so they can develop effective strategies.

It enables them to align their policies with national strategies to support and empower Emirati professionals, in addition to developing programs to develop the country’s human resources and create suitable jobs for them.

Tariq Al Janahi, Deputy Executive Director, DSC, said: “The Dubai Labor Force Survey is part of a comprehensive national project covering the whole of the UAE and implemented in partnership with the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics and the Local Statistics Centre. “As part of the strategic plan of the Dubai Statistics Centre, the survey is one of the most important household studies conducted each year to accurately determine the performance of the workforce on various indicators and characteristics over a given period and to compare the results with needs and requirements. to compare labor markets,” he added. “In turn, this supports planning and decision-making processes by providing a clear picture of the workforce.”

“The survey generates data and indicators on workers and the unemployed based on their professional and educational qualifications,” Al Janahi explained. “It also measures the unemployment rate based on various characteristics and calculates the participation rate in the emirate’s labor market. In addition, besides providing detailed data on the demographic, social and economic characteristics of Dubai’s population and human capital, it also visualizes occupational composition, economic activity In addition, the study can identify changes in key indicators and characteristics over the years, as well as the career status of working professionals.”

The 2022 Dubai Labor Force Survey covers a wide range of households as a statistical sample representative of society, ethnicity, age group and other key characteristics. The sample consisted of 3,000 households, including 1,500 UAE households.

The Center will conduct surveys by telephone between 16:30 and 20:30 from Sunday to Thursday. Data collection began on November 27, 2022 and will continue through the first week of January 2023.

The Dubai Statistics Center calls on all Emirati and non-Emirati households residing in the Emirate of Dubai to fully cooperate with the call center researchers, which will enable them to collect the most accurate data to better serve the overall development of the emirate.
