Pakistani disability rights activist Tanzila Khan said she was happy to visit the UAE, especially Dubai, as part of her world tour and her efforts to fight disability.

She also emphasized that her visit to the UAE is in line with her vision to raise awareness on disability issues and her call for the inclusion of people with disabilities in all spheres of life.

In an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the Skift Global Forum East, Khan said the world is changing rapidly, so it is important to keep reminding people that close to one billion people in the world are living with physical disabilities.

She appealed to those concerned to provide necessary services for people with disabilities, noting that she loves to travel to Dubai, Mumbai, Cairo and other cities around the world.

Khan urged the community to take action to change stereotypes of people of determination and consider their different aspects, not just their physical disabilities, noting that while they have a variety of abilities, they need to be included in the community .

She then added that she started a company called “Iwish” that specializes in providing training and finding sustainable solutions, created the first podcast series in Pakistan called “Brain Masala” and produced the first A short comedy film about disability in her country.

Khan is an author, motivational speaker and founder of Girlythings PK, an app that provides advice to women with disabilities.

Khan is interested in raising awareness about reproductive and educational health and how to access it, especially for people with disabilities.

According to statistics from the United Nations, 80% of the 1 billion disabled people in the world live in developing countries, and more than 46% of the elderly over 60 years old are disabled.
