Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan’s latest film, Malikappuram, will hit theaters in the UAE a week after its grand opening in Kerala. Directed by Vishnu Sasi Shankar, Unni Mukundan tells the story of a Sabarimala pilgrim who helps a group of children reach their destination safely.
Written by Night Drive and Pathaam Valavu screenwriter Abhilash Pillai, the film is an entertainer starring Saiju Kurup, Ramesh Pisharody, Manoj K Jayan and child entertainers Devanandha and Sripad. The film is rated 18 Till Confirmed (18TC) in the UAE and will be released on January 5, 2023. Bookings for performances have already begun.
The film revolves around 8-year-old Kalyani’s dream of visiting Sabarimala and how she reaches the temple amidst life’s various challenges. By the way, Tamil and Telugu versions of the movie will also be released in the first week of January.
Shortly after the movie was released in Kerala, Uni recently posted on his social media pages that the Tamil and Telugu versions will be available in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telugu on January 6. News of release in Ghana.
The film marks Unni’s fourth Malayalam film in 2022 after Meppadiyan, The 12th Man and Shefeekkinte Santosham. Apart from his Telugu films Khiladi and Yashoda, he also had cameos in Bro Daddy and Pyaali last year.
In Shefeekkinte Santosham, he played a young man living in Dubai who travels to Kerala for an engagement but gets into trouble after people suspect him of involvement in smuggling. The film, directed by Anup Pandalam, also stars Divya Pillai, Athmiya Rajan, Manoj K Jayan and Bala. Shefeekkinte Santosham will be available on Amazon Prime Video in India and Simply South in the rest of the world starting January 6.
