kabul [Afghanistan]Jan 5 (ANI): The Pakistani Taliban movement on Wednesday claimed responsibility for the killing of two senior Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) officials, Khaama Press reported.

Police said Wednesday that two intelligence officers were shot dead while cleaning their vehicles outside a restaurant. The suspect fled the scene after shooting.

Taliban fighters killed two Pakistani officials, Pakistani Taliban spokesman Muhammad Khurasani said in a statement on Wednesday.

A special forces unit of the TTP killed ISI Deputy Director Multan Naweed Sadiq and his colleague Inspector Nasir Butt. Khurasani said two people were killed on Bismillah Highway in Kanwal district of Punjab province, Khaama Press reported.

The two officials who were killed were known for capturing TTP insurgents and other militant groups and conducting complex investigations in Pakistan. One of the two is the head of the federal government’s counterterrorism division, according to the source.

According to Khaama Press, according to statistics released by the TTP terrorist organization, the Pakistani Taliban movement’s attack on the Pakistani government in 2022 will cause about 1,000 deaths and injuries.

TTP said in a video that most of their attacks took place in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. They have also carried out attacks outside the province, according to the Khaama Press.

The report quoted Interior Minister Ranasana Ullah as saying that TTP had a hideout in Afghanistan and organized attacks on Pakistan from there. He also mentioned that Pakistan has the right to attack these TTP’s safe havens in Afghanistan to protect its people from escalating attacks in Pakistan’s border areas.

Pakistani Prime Minister Sheikh Baz Sharif chaired the 40th National Security Council meeting on Monday.

During the committee meeting, the leadership assured that Pakistan will maintain its resolve to have zero tolerance for terrorism in Pakistan and reaffirmed its resolve to deal with any and all entities that resort to violence

Furthermore, according to the same report, the NSC Forum also mentioned that law enforcement agencies, especially the Counter Terrorism Division (CTD) will be upgraded to the combat capability required to fight terrorism.

Notably, this zero-tolerance stance on terrorism comes at a time when the peace agreement between the TTP and the Pakistani government has been withdrawn. Recently, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that despite the agreement, Afghan land is being used to attack his country.

Asif also pointed out that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa accounted for 58 percent of all terrorist incidents in Pakistan, some of which also occurred in Balochistan. (Arnie)
