His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed a high-level delegation from the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Oliver Oehms, Chief Executive of the Associated Council (AHK).

At the start of the meeting, Al Tayer welcomed the German Consul General, affirmed DEWA’s desire to strengthen cooperation with all UAE diplomatic and consular missions, and wished His Excellency Sybille Pfaff every success in his diplomatic mission to strengthen cooperation between the two countries at all levels .
During the meeting, Al Tayer highlighted the ambitious initiatives and innovative development projects that DEWA is implementing to achieve the vision of wise leadership to strengthen sustainability and The transition to a sustainable green economy is in Dubai’s energy mix. This fulfills Dubai’s 2050 Clean Energy Strategy and Dubai’s 2050 Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy, which sees 100% of Dubai’s total electricity production capacity coming from clean energy sources by 2050.
Al Tayer explained that Dubai’s clean energy capacity accounts for about 14 percent of Dubai’s total electricity capacity. The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park has a production capacity of 2,027 megawatts (MW) using photovoltaic solar (PV) and concentrated solar power (CSP). The capacity of the solar park being implemented by DEWA is the largest single-site solar park in the world using the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. By 2030, its capacity will reach 5,000 MW.
Al Tayer also highlighted DEWA’s efforts to use disruptive technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution as well as “green charging stations” for electric vehicles. DEWA has installed approximately 350 green chargers in Dubai to support green mobility in Dubai and the UAE.
Al Tayer emphasized the importance of cooperation between DEWA and German companies, as well as the exchange of best experiences and practices in the fields of energy, water and sustainable development and the further development of this cooperation. He noted that DEWA has established strategic partnerships with many German companies in conventional and renewable energy research and development. DEWA has established a continuous strategic partnership with Siemens for more than 30 years.
They cooperate in a wide range of areas, mainly technical solutions for power generation. DEWA is also implementing a green hydrogen project in cooperation with Expo 2020 Dubai and Siemens Energy. This is the first project of its kind in the MENA region to produce green hydrogen using solar energy.
The German Consul General praised DEWA’s efforts and outstanding role in promoting sustainable development in Dubai. She thanked Al Tayer for giving me the opportunity to discuss cooperation and promote bilateral relations.
