ILT20: UAE U-19 all-rounder Dhruv Parashar to replace injured Ronak in Desert Vipers

Dubai, 14 January (IANS): Spin bowling all-rounder Dhruv Parashar has been named as a substitute for the Desert Vipers DP World ILT20 campaign, replacing his injured UAE U-19 teammate Ronak Panoly.

Panoly’s left shoulder injury has limited his ability to play, meaning he won’t be able to perform to the level required for the tournament.

Desert Vipers cricket director Tom Moody expressed his disappointment with Roanker, saying: “Obviously this is a big setback for him. As an exciting young player from the UAE, he Excited about joining the Desert Vipers. But unfortunately, from a health standpoint and for his own assurances to get his shoulder back in shape, the decision to release him was made.

“Ronacker will stay with the team to receive treatment and feel part of the team. He is an impressive youngster and we hope to see him in future games.”

Commenting on Panoly’s replacement, Moody added: “Dhruv Parashar has been an excellent replacement and we were fortunate to have him on call.

“He took part in the Desert Vipers UAE trial last October, when me and manager James Foster had the opportunity to see him in action. Dhruv was highlighted as a player we wanted to keep an eye on. We’ve been impressed, he looks so natural. He looks like he can make an immediate impact, both with the ball in his hands and the bat in his hands, and he has a lot of exciting upside.

“He is a truly talented young man, and we welcome him to join us and wish him the best of luck in his journey to Camp Desert Viper.”

Dhruv Parashar was a standout player for the UAE U-19 team and his side tied for second with eight wickets at the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in the West Indies early last year.

Among his achievements, the Emirates went 2-15 to win the Man of the Match award in the final win over Ireland.

Earlier in the game, Parashar struck four to help the UAE secure their place in the plate final with an 82-run win over West Indies.

So how exciting it is for Dhruv to be a backup for the Desert Vipers. The player said: “Honestly, it’s like a dream come true. I’m so happy to be part of this team and to be around so many people. The support staff and players are so welcoming. There’s so much to offer Learning, if I get the chance, I need to do everything I can to contribute to the team winning, on and off the field. No matter what the cost. This is a great opportunity for me.”
