A special Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to investigate the murder of senior journalist Arshad Sharif has arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), ARY News reported on Monday.
The investigative team will spend a week in the UAE to gather details of Arshad Sharif’s meetings and contacts during his stay in Dubai.
The special JIT will then visit Nairobi on 15 January to gather evidence on the prominent journalist’s murder. The team will investigate brothers Khurram and Waqar, who accompanied Sharif while he was in Kenya.
On December 8, the federal government shared Names of members of the new Special Joint Investigation Team (JIT) Formed to join the Supreme Court (SC) in investigating the murder of senior journalist Arshad Sharif.
The new JIT includes members from ISI, IB, FIA and Islamabad Police. Members include DIG Intelligence, Sajid Kiyani, Waqarauddin Syed from FIA, DIG Headquarters, Owais Ahmed from Military Intelligence, Murtaza Afzal and Muhammad Aslam from ISI.

Last month, the Special Joint Investigation Team (SJIT) visited the home of slain journalist Arshad Sharif to record his mother’s statement.
Arshad was shot and killed by local police along the Nairobi-Magadi Highway in Kenya on October 23. This is a “wrong case”. An official statement from the police later said they “regret this unfortunate incident”.
